One infant died, 15 others critically ill after vaccination

Hyderabad, March 7 (PMI): One fine-month-old infant died and some 15 other children took ill after being administered a vaccination at an Urban Health Center in Nampally on Thursday. All the affected infants were undergoing treatment in the Niloufer hospital and the condition of three of the kids was stated to be critical.
According to the information, some 90 children were administered vaccination at the health center managed by the State government. Many parents queued up at UHC on Thursday to get their children vaccinated. Soon after taking the vaccination, the children developed health complications following which the doctors rushed them to Niloufer Hospital in Nampally for treatment. As a precautionary measure, the police beefed up security in front of the Niloufer Hospital.
It may be mentioned here that all the babies were between three and five months. On receipt of the information, the GHMC Zonal Commissioner enquired about the condition of the infants. On the other hands, a medical officers’ committee was inquiring whether the incident happened due to negligence of the medical staff or due to prescription of wrong medicines. Responding to the pathetic incident, Health Minister Eatala Rajendar called up the Niloufer doctors and asked them to provide best treatment. After hearing the tragic news, the minister left for Hyderabad from Huzurabad.
