Municipal polls: HC directs State govt to furnish details of ordinance

Hyderabad, Aug.14 (PMI): The Hyderabad High Court today took up hearing on a petition filed against conduct of municipal elections in the State. It asked the State government to submit full details pertaining to the ordinance issued by it recently. The court adjourned the case to Friday.

The High Court also asked the State government as to how it to conduct municipal elections as per the old Act when the new Act was already in force. The Court also asked Additional Advocate General Ramachander Rao as to how it would hold municipal elections in eight days after informing the court that it would conduct elections in 109 days.

The AAG submitted to the HC that they had divided the wards and divisions of the municipalities and municipal corporations as per the GO No. 78.  He also told the HC that they would hold the elections as per the old Act only.
