Move to privatize 5,100 bus routes can’t be faulted: HC

Hyderabad, Nov.19 (PMI): The High Court on Tuesday observed that the decision taken by the State government for privatization of 5,100 bus routes of TSRTC cannot be faulted since it has only initiated the process under Section 102 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

A Division Bench of the court also said as the process of privatization has not commenced so far, there was no evidence to prove the ulterior motive of the State government as alleged by petitioner Dr PL Visweswar Rao. The petitioner’s counsel pointed out that the decision was taken in bad faith and with ulterior motive even when the RTC employees were on strike. He also told the court that the State government should inform about its decision to modify any changes under Section 102 of the Act.

The bench will continue to hear the matter on Wednesday.
