Mayor flags off Harithaharam rally at Kapra, asks each citizen to plant 10 saplings

Hyderabad, July. 15 (PMI): GHMC Mayor Dr Bonthu Rammohan today appealed to the citizens to plant 10 saplings each so that 10 crore plants could be raised and make Greater Hyderabad green and pollution-free in the near future.

            The Mayor flagged off Harithaharam rally from Kapra Circle office to ZPHS Kushaiguda where women volunteers, public representatives, school children and their parents numbering over 5,000 joined the 1.5 km rally at Kapra Circle. Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said as this year’s target was plantation of one crore saplings, everyone must come forward to plant and protect trees for healthy living with green surroundings that would bring more rains to lead a very happy life in the future, by protecting the trees duly safeguarding them in turn the trees will take care of us as a mother to protect the environment to live in healthy environment

            Mayor stated that the vision of the CM was to plant 250 crore plants in the entire State under Telangana Harithaharam Program to make green environment in the entire State and also to deploy green brigadiers to play a role as a tree guard to protect the trees for their survival so that the trees can protect the citizens in near future to be healthy and pollution free. In this connection, the Mayor appealed to the school managements to deploy green brigadiers and fix responsibility to three students to protect each plant so that they can protect the each plant till 3 years for their survival.

            The Mayor has participated in the Harithaharam rally as a part of Harithaharam programme which was flagged from Kapra Circle office to ZPHS Kushaiguda where women volunteers, public representative’s School children’s Parents numbering to more than five thousand and odd have joined the rally of 1.5 km today at Kapra Circle. The Mayor said that students must play a crucial role in this Harithaharam program to make pollution free city. He praised the efforts made by the Officials last year with which we could reach the survival rate to that of 95% and this year also it is being planned 100% survival.

Malla Reddy,  MP, said the Medchal district was having a population of 30 lakh whereas the target of 40 lakh saplings have been planned  for this Harithaharam programme involving students from various educational institutions, NGOs, SHGs, public representatives, officials to reach the target to make the program a grand success.

            Dharma Reddy  Jt Collector, Sunitha Mahender Reddy, ZP Chairperson,  Srinivas, MBC chairman, Anjaiah, Corporator, Usha Rani, DEO, also  spoke on the occasion. Gangadhar Reddy, ZC East along with DC Pankaja handed over a cheque for Rs one lakh to the Mayor for purchase of tree guards to protect plants. The amount was donated by the builders and other Corporate Sectors under Corporate Social Responsibility in Karpa circle.

            In connection with Harithaharam program, a pledge was taken with all dignitaries and students on the occasion. Corporators, Public representatives, officials from various heads of the Government departments participated in the program.
