Kanna appointed AP BJP president

Amaravathi/Guntur, May 13( newsline): The BJP national president Amit Shah has appointed former AP minister Kanna Lakshmi Narayana as Andhra Pradesh State BJP president.

According to informed BJP sources here today, while Lakshmi Narayana was appointed as State party president and Somu Veeraju, MLC, has been appointed as State convener of BJP Election Management Committee. The BJP high command also appointed Ravindra Raina, MLA as president of Jammu & Kashmir State BJP with immediate effect, according to a letter released by the BJP national general secretary Arun Singh.

Elated over his appointment as AP State unit BJP president, Kanna Lakshmi Narayana expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party national president Amit Shah for selecting for the post.

Speaking to mediapersons, Lakshmi Narayana said he would spare no efforts for strengthening the party in the State and lead it towards victory in the next year’s general elections with the cooperation of all concerned. Asserting that the development of the residuary State would be possible only with t he BJP, Kanna said he would explain to the people of the State about the Central government’s assistance to the State and turn the tables on the party critics. He also reiterated that the BJP high command was committed to fulfill all its promises made to the State.

Previously, Kanna Lakshmi Narayana was a strong Congress leader and elected as MLA for five times from Guntur district. He also served as a minister in the Congress government. After losing the 2014 elections, Kanna, who hails from Kapu community, quit the Congress to join the BJP. The State party chief post remained vacant after MP K Hari Babu tendered his resignation on April 17.
