Indefinite Strike by  drivers of Uber, Ola, IT Cos  from Oct 19

Hyderabad, Oct.17 (PMI): Telangana State Taxi and Drivers JAC (TSTD JAC) Chairman Shaik Salauddin, in a statement here said  that 50,000 cabs will be going on an indefinite strike against Uber, Ola and IT companies,  beginning on October 19. The decision has been arrived at following a ballot conducted yesterday, in which 75 percent (or 3/4th ) of the votes cast were in favour of the strike.

This indefinite strike is being organized in support of our demands that were made earlier by TSTD JAC to the Transport Ministry, TS state and also directly to Uber, Ola and IT sector companies.

Their demands include: Enforce Uber, Ola cabs and other taxi aggregator services to ensure better living conditions and work standards by charging a minimum fare of Rs.22 per km; Reinstate off boarded (off-road ) drivers; place a cap on the number of cabs attached to aggregator marketplaces in order to ensure a minimum business guarantee to all drivers; Enforce the implementation of GO Ms. No. 61 and 66 for drivers attached to IT companies; Ensure KYC approval of customers to tackle cases of assaults on drivers; Establish a Taxi drivers welfare and administration board to take responsibility for drivers’ safety, and security in their work on aggregator marketplaces as well as driver incomes, health and welfare more generally.

Salauddin requested all uber and Ola drivers- partners to participate in the strike and to refrain from working on these platforms and for IT companies even  for at least one day and  go on  strike.
