Dark clouds envelop city, normal life hit

Hyderabad : Dark thick clouds covered the sky plunging the city into darkness this morning and rain lashed several parts of the State capital. In Dilsukhnagar area, the motorists were compelled to move with the headlights of vehicles switched on as roads were still dark even at 11 am.

In several parts of the city, several residents switched on the lights out of their houses due to poor visibility making it difficult for two-wheelers and motorists to go out on their vehicles. People set out for their work places had a tough time as many areas were in darkness following disruption in power supply.

Normal life in LB Nagar, Kothapet, Hayath Nagar and surrounding areas was disrupted by rain during the peak traffic hours. Strong gales were witnessed in some parts, especially in the Tank Bund area. Rains up to 3 to 4cm are forecast for Hyderabad and other Telangana districts in the coming 24 to 48 hours. Warangal, Khammam, Nalgonda districts were already receiving heavy rains since this morning.

Weather office said thunderstorms are likely in Hyderabad, Yadadri, Peddapalli, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Khammam, Warangal, Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool and Medak districts on Wednesday.
