CP HYD Plans HPL Cricket Tourneys in City

Hyderabad,  The success of previous years’ effort by all SHOs, ACPs, DCPs has made Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar IPS  to plan a Cricket Tournament involving over 80,000 citizens and cricket enthusiasts of Hyderabad.
The Cricket Tournament will be called Hyderabad Police League or HPL 20:20 for the year 2018. The inaugural match will be held at the Barkas grounds in the South zone on April 21. Subsequently, every zone will have inaugural matches under their jurisdictions. Every sector within a police station will have a team. Then there will be matches at police station, Division and zonal level matches and finals will be held at the L B Stadium.
Sri Anjani Kumar IPS  said they would request Hyderabad Cricket Association and former players of Hyderabad to be associated with it to motivate the youth of this historical city. “We have a galaxy of famous cricket players here. We dream to produce more cricket prodigies. We will associate with the Sports Authority of Telangana State”, he added.
A new feature of the tournament will be the introduction of a Women’s Team this time. “Women are always considered very important for us and we will be very happy to participate with them in such sports activities”, the City Police Commissioner said, adding that “Cricket is like a universal  religion for India. It runs in the veins of everyone.  We want to enter into the hearts and minds of our citizens through such mega events. It would be planned and organized jointly by the community and the local police. We are partners in every field”, he added.
All matches will start in the early morning and will be over by 10.30 am. A few matches will be played in the evening as well. The Commissioner said there would be special awards for highest run scorer, highest wicket taker, best strike rate, most sixes, most catches, best partnership, best wicket keeper, best throw for run outs and so on.
