Speaking to the media here on Thursday, Gutha asked the Congress leaders to speak to Karnataka government for the release of Krishna water if they were sincere. The Karnataka government was not releasing water with bad intention, he alleged and ridiculed local Congress leaders, who were not asking Karnataka government about water, saying that they were only concentrated on personal issues. He said Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has already addressed a letter to Karnataka government in this regard.
On the other hand, Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy has addressed letters to the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Irrigation Minister Basanagouda Patil urging them to release Krishna water to Telangana State. In his letter, Ponguleti said Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda, Khammam, Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts’ people were facing severe crisis of drinking and irrigation water due to lack of water in Krishna projects.
