Amarnath Yatra terror attack: Uttar Pradesh issues high alert along India-Nepal borde

Lucknow: A day after a terror attack on Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, Uttar Pradesh authorities on Tuesday sounded a high alert in the state’s areas along the India-Nepal border, an official said.
 
A senior home department officer said all border police stations like Nanpara, Motipur, Martha and Sujauli have been alerted and all police station house officers posted in the state’s districts adjoining the porous border asked to ensure action against suspicious persons.
 
Sashastra Seema Bal personnel have also been directed to be extra vigilant in places like Sunauli, Nautanwa, and Rupaidiha, the entry points from the neighbouring Himalayan country.
 
The police have been asked to increase patrolling and not to allow anyone to cross over without proper credentials.
 
Personnel of the SSB’s 59 Battalion have increased checking at border checkposts and also night patrolling, the official said.
 
Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had asked Director General of Police Sulkhan Singh and principal secretary (home) Arvind Kumar to personally monitor security in the wake of Monday’s terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims in Kashmir, which left seven dead and 19 injured
