73 jailed, driving licences of 10 suspended for drunken driving

Hyderabad,  The City Traffic Police have filed 591 charge-sheets against drunken drivers from February 12 to 16 and were produced before the III and IV Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court, Erramanzil here.

According to Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, the Metropolitan Magistrate convicted 73 accused and sentenced them to imprisonment. The Magistrate also permanently cancelled/suspended licenses of 10 convicts. Apart from imposing fine up to Rs 12,59,900, all the accused were sent to Chanchalguda Jail. Besides, five top violators of non-payment of challans and nine drivers without licenses were also jailed.

The violators, who have committed the offence, will be sent for counseling at TTI. Goshamahal and Begumpet. The drunken drive was being continued to curb Traffic violations and also for the safety of commuters on the road, the Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) said.
